During my final year in the Ryerson University journalism program, I produced and assisted the editing, camerawork, scriptwriting and graphics of the 20-minute documentary “Chemical Valley – A Toxic Tale”.
With 62 industrial facilities located within a 25 km radius, Chemical Valley, located in Sarnia, ON, Canada, is Ontario’s pollution hotspot. Together, these plants account for 40 per cent of Canada’s petro-chemical industry. This documentary takes a look at the negative health effects some of the locals have acquired as a result of the concentrated emissions in Sarnia and what Ontarians are doing to put a stop to it.
